Introduction

mailmeisters ("we," "our," or "us") operates Localify, a Shopify app that enriches Klaviyo customer profiles with Shopify Markets localization data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

Data We Collect

From Merchants

• Shop domain (e.g., yourstore.myshopify.com)
• Shop name and email address
• Klaviyo Private API key (stored securely, encrypted)
• App configuration settings

From Customers

• Locale, language, country, and currency preferences
• Page views, product views, and shopping behavior
• Email address (if provided)
• Klaviyo cookie (_kx) for identity resolution

How We Use Data

• To forward tracking events to your Klaviyo account
• To enrich customer profiles with localization data
• To operate and improve the Localify service
• To provide customer support

How We Store Data

Merchant Data

We store your shop configuration and API keys securely in our database with encryption at rest.

Customer Event Data

Customer events are processed in real-time and immediately forwarded to your Klaviyo account. To ensure reliable delivery:

• Events are temporarily queued for up to 4 hours
• Automatic retries if delivery initially fails
• 99% of events are delivered within seconds
• All data is encrypted in transit and at rest

We do not permanently store customer event data.

System Logs

For security monitoring and debugging, system logs are retained for up to 365 days with personal information redacted. This extended retention enables long-term security analysis and helps us identify and prevent fraud or abuse.

Security

All data transmission uses HTTPS with HMAC-SHA256 signature verification for security.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with third parties, except:

• To Klaviyo (your designated email marketing platform)
• To Shopify (as required for app functionality)
• To service providers (Supabase, GCP) for infrastructure
• When required by law

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you're in the EU, you have rights to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request data deletion
• Object to data processing
• Data portability

Data Retention

Merchant Data: Retained while you use Localify. Upon uninstalling the app, all your merchant data (shop configuration, API keys, settings) is immediately and permanently deleted.

Temporary Data: Customer event data in message queues is retained for up to 4 hours for reliable delivery. System logs are retained for up to 365 days for security monitoring, fraud detection, and debugging purposes (all personal information is redacted).

Klaviyo Data: Customer event data forwarded to your Klaviyo account is retained according to your Klaviyo account settings. You remain responsible for managing data retention in Klaviyo.

Cookies

Localify reads the Klaviyo _kx cookie for customer identity resolution but does not set its own cookies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
